Every work begins with a threshold.
In the foreground there is always a physical point of passage — a doorway, an opening, a frame, a material edge — plausible and grounded in the logic of the place. From this position the viewer does not simply observe a landscape; they stand before it.
The image does not complete the crossing. It pauses there.
Liminal calls this pause suspension.
